Back during the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales, former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar and current cricketer Ravindra Jadeja were involved in a severe altercation. Manjrekar happened to call Jadeja a ‘bits and pieces’ cricketer and the same outraged Jadeja. The veteran commentator also had to bear the brunt of the netizens for his comments, which were deemed uncalled-for.
Yet another time, Manjrekar has made a controversial comment, this time after India’s massive 66-run defeat to Australia in the first ODI at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground. Though he stated that he doesn’t have issues with Jadeja, he was clear cut in saying that ‘players of his kind’ don’t deserve a place in the eleven.
“My selection and thoughts are based on a principle that I have learnt over the years: if you have specialists who can walk-in based on one discipline, you fill your team with those players,” Manjrekar was quoted as saying in The Hindu.
“I do not have a problem with Jadeja; I have a problem with his kind of cricketers in white-ball cricket. Even Hardik Pandya will not be in my team. They add illusionary value to the team. Of course, I have always rated Jadeja highly in the Test format,” he added.
Ravindra Jadeja reacts
Last time around when Manjrekar called Jadeja a ‘bits and pieces’ cricketer, Jadeja replied, asking the commentator to stop his ‘verbal diarrhoea’. But this around, instead of losing his composure, he uploaded a picture with a cryptic message, writing, “Stay calm.”

As far as the ongoing series is concerned, the Men in Blue have already given the home team an unassailable 2-0 lead. After the defeat in the first game, Virat Kohli and his men lost the second game at the SCG after Australia put up a massive score of 389 on the board.
The last ODI is currently being played at the Manuka Oval in Canberra and all India would be hoping is to salvage some pride. For the match, India made four changes in their playing eleven and brought in debutant T Natarajan, Shubman Gill, Shardul Thakur and Kuldeep Yadav.
