The Decision Review System (DRS) has turned out to be a huge lifeline for the players. Over the time being a number of decisions have been over-turned. At times, teams take the DRS out of optimism, but sides have also used it to perfection. Nathan Lyon would be knowing its significance after Australia used up the DRS in the fag end of the Headingley Test to find that they needed it later.
However, Virat Kohli and the Indian team wouldn’t complain as the technology helped Jasprit Bumrah become the third Indian bowler with the Test hat-trick at the Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica. The speedster hit Roston Chase on the pads and the on-field umpire didn’t pay heed to Team India’s appeal. But Kohli went for the review and it was learned that Chase was indeed out.
Adam Gilchrist not pleased
Previously, Harbhajan Singh and Irfan Pathan took Test hat-tricks for India in Kolkata and Karachi respectively. In the meantime, Adam Gilchrist reckoned that he was on the wrong side of luck when Harbhajan got the hat-trick at the Eden Gardens. Back in 2001, he was Bhajji’s second scalp in the 72nd over. Gilchrist felt that had the DRS been there back then, he wouldn’t have been out.
In the next ball, Harbhajan nipped out Shane Warne to carve his name in history at the iconic venue. Gilchrist uploaded the video where Harbhajan dismissed him on the way of getting to the cherished milestone. The southpaw captioned the video and wrote, “No DRS,”

India, then led by Sourav Ganguly, went on to win the match by 171 runs after being asked to follow on. After Gilchrist’s post, Harbhajan trolled him and asked him to stop crying and cringing. Harbhajan jokingly said that he expected Gilchrist to talk sense after the latter’s playing days, which as per the spinner didn’t happen.
Harbhajan replied to the former Aussie and wrote, “U think u would have survived for long if not first ball ? Stop crying over these things mate..thought u would talk sense after ur playing days.. but few things never change u r the prime example of that. Always crying,”
