At a time when the entire world is busy fighting the outbreak of COVID-19 that has claimed the lives of thousands of people across the globe, people have it taken to social media to express their opinions on various matters, which has led to disagreements and eventual fights between individuals or groups. And, this when seen by the veteran Indian off-spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin, made him compose a tweet asking people to practice ‘social media distancing’.
Cricket has taken a big hit due to this pandemic and tournaments have been postponed or cancelled all over the world. The Indian Premier League, which as per schedule was to start on the 29th of March has now been postponed to 15th of April. If everything was to go by order, Ashwin would have been in the training camps of his new franchise, Delhi Capitals by now. But, due to the rescheduling and the virus continuing to spread, it is not sure when his fans would get to watch him and his mates play on the field.
‘Just take a break and look inwards’: Ravichandran Ashwin
Ashwin, on Sunday, took it to Twitter to express his displeasure with people finding faults in others’ actions and what is wrong in our system and urged all of them to aim towards increasing harmony in our society, which is the need of the hour.
His tweet read, “People finding faults with actions of others or pointing out what’s wrong with our system, just take a break and look inwards while you strictly practice “social media distancing”. That will be your biggest contribution towards the harmony of society. Jai hind”. This tweet of Ashwin gathered a lot of support from his followers, who came out in big numbers to like and retweet his post.
It is people like Ashwin and others with a huge sphere of influence who are and should come out with such messages, ensuring that people are guided through these tough times with ease and harmony. It certainly is scarce in today’s world as everyone is out there and voicing their opinions which more often than not, does more harm than good.
People finding faults with actions of others or pointing out what’s wrong with our system, just take a break and look inwards while you strictly practice “social media distancing”. That will be your biggest contribution towards the harmony of the society. 👍🏻 Jai hind
