Former cricketers from Pakistan have begun raising their voices against PCB for drafting the tainted players back into the international outfit. Earlier, Mohammad Hafeez and Waqar Younis gave some strong statements against the players, who played for Pakistan after getting involved in corruption acts like spot-fixing. Now, Ramiz Raja joined the bandwagon, who opened up on the fact that destroyed Pakistan cricket. Moreover, he took a hot shot at the tainted cricketers.
Actually, Mohammad Amir was found guilty for having involvement in the infamous spot-fixing scandal back in 2010. Afterwards, he was handed with a five-year ban. Later on, he marked his return to international outfit in 2016. But, recently, he bid adieu to Test format in a shocking decision at the age of 28.
Ramiz Raza is unimpressed with PCB
Now, Ramiz Raja, the former Pakistan cricketer said that tainted cricketers should open their grocery shops. He feels that giving preference to the players in the team, who were involved in corruption has damaged Pakistan cricket to an extreme extent. As per him, now there are talks going on to bring back Sharjeel Khan in the national team, who was involved in the spot-fixing scandal during the 2nd edition of PSL is not right.
The left-handed opener was handed with a five-year ban from PCB. But later on, the cricket board waived off two-and-a-half years ban after the 30-year-old, apologised for his mistake. He also played in the 5th edition of Pakistan Super League after his ban came to its end.
“You ask me I would say these tainted cricketers should open their grocery shops. I have no doubt that giving concession to big names also damaged Pakistan cricket. There is once again talks of redrafting Sharjeel Khan into the team which is not right and can damage Pakistan cricket,” Ramiz Raja said as quoted by India Today.
Earlier, Waqar Younis had also openly accepted that Mohammad Amir and Wahab Riaz, who were the two most experienced bowlers in the national side ditched their nation. The duo bid farewell to Test cricket in 2019 just ahead of an important tour to Australia where Pakistan lost T20I and Test series respectively due to a less experienced bowling line-up.
