Andrew Tye is someone who is known to be a cricketer with great on-field conduct. The right-arm bowler from Western Australia has never been on the bad side of any wrongdoing on a cricket field. However, on Saturday, he did something during the BBL Qualifier which will start in the minds of cricket fans for a long long time to come. The fast bowler might have accidentally denied James Vince a century in the Big Bash League.
The incident took towards the end of the Qualifier match of the Big Bash League finals 2020-21. Sydney Sixers’ batsman James Vince was batting unbeaten on 98 when Perth Scorchers’ Andrew Tye came to bowl the 18th over of the innings. At this moment, Sixers’ needed just one run to win the match. Tye bowled a slower bouncer, which was down the leg side as well as above the shoulder. The ball was called a wide delivery and Vince stayed stranded on 98.
As soon as the wide was called, there were loud noises of boos from the crowd, who were presumably booing Tye. There have been several incidents of bowlers intentionally bowling a no-ball or a wide to deny a century to the batsman on strike. Vince wasn’t impressed at all while Tye also had a dejected look. So, we can’t particularly say whether that was done intentionally or not but, Tye might have just made the whole Twitter talk about him.
“Only he will know”: James Vince on if that wide was deliberate

In the post-match presentation, the England batsman was asked what he felt about the incident and he just said that only Tye will know whether it was an intentional attempt or not. “Two more would have been nice, but great to contribute and be there till the end. ‘Only he will know’ (on AJ Tye’s wide, if it was deliberate), but we should have been home in the previous over, but just happy to be finishing unbeaten,” Vince said at the post-match presentation.
The win has now assured Sydney Sixers a place in the final of the Big Bash League 2020-21. Batting first, Perth Scorchers managed to score 167 for 6 in their 20 overs. For Sixers, Josh Philippe started off the innings with some positive batsmanship. He scored 45 runs and Vince continued with his class apart batting. Scorchers will now face the winners of the match between Sydney Thunder and Brisbane Heat in the Challenger in an attempt to qualify for the finals.

The sheer suddenness of the move!
The unexpected nature of the move!
The unpredictability of the move!
He moved in stealth, and delivered (a wide) when (it wasn't) necessary! https://t.co/fgobFPiJev
