India and Pakistan haven’t played any bilateral series since 2012 due to the strained political relations between the two countries. But it hasn’t affected the players’ relations from the teams who lock horns on the field. The likes of Shoaib Malik, Virat Kohli, Mohammad Amir and others share a special bonding and it is always visible off the field.
Rather Amir and Kohli are very good friends and the latter had even gifted his bat to the Pakistan’s best bowler ahead of the marquee clash at the Eden Gardens during the T20 World Cup 2016. And now the left-arm pace bowler has picked the Indian skipper as the best batsman of the current era.
Mohammad Amir has been going live with his friends and teammates on Instagram during this lockdown period and is having a chat with them to spend his time. Recently, while doing the same, he was asked to pick the best batsman and he went with Virat Kohli and also went on to say that there is no match to him in the present era.
Interestingly, he also named Saeed Anwar who used to open the innings for Pakistan as his favourite batsman overall. “My overall favourite is Saeed bhai but if you talk about this era then it is Virat Kohli. There is no match to him in this era,” Amir said.

Mohammad Amir in the news for his Test retirement
Mohammad Amir has been criticised by many for retiring from the Test format last year soon after the World Cup. Rather the Pakistan bowling coach Waqar Younis took a dig at him and Wahab Riaz for leaving the team at the wrong time in the longest format of the game. However, the former coach of the team Mickey Arthur recently backed the pacer’s decision to call it quits from the Tests.
“Aamir spoke to me about it and he kept me in the loop on his decision. We discussed it many times. But maybe I was too hard on him playing him in every Test I could. I could see he was losing his hunger for test cricket and his body was not able to handle the pressure of three formats,” he was quoted as saying by the The Statesman.
