Pakistan’s right-arm medium-fast bowler Hasan Ali delivered a spectacular performance against Zimbabwe in the first Test of the two-match series at the Harare Sports Club. His exploits by the ball helped Pakistan script a clinical victory by an innings and 116 runs. Hasan ran through the host’s batting line-up in both the innings to rattle the opposition batters.
The first innings of the Test match saw Hasan returning with four wickets at an economy of 3.5 while in the third innings, he picked the wicket of as many as five batters. The 26-year-old was awarded the Man of the Match award for his heroics with the willow. Speaking on the virtual post-match performance, Ali touched the part of his life where he ‘lost nearly everything’.
Hasan was out from the Pakistan team for a long period of time due to multiple injuries. Hasan revealed that it was a difficult phase for him as he was out of the game for nearly two years and had to undergo multiple surgeries to recover from his injuries. He further added that it was a frustrating time and he used to cry seeing his condition but he never forgot to work hard to bounce back stronger.
I had one aim and that was to make a comeback: Hasan Ali
“There was a phase when I lost nearly everything. It was a difficult journey. I was out of cricket for nearly two years, fighting with multiple injuries but came back after getting fitter. It was a frustrating time and I used to cry. But one thing I never forgot was to try and work hard. Because that was the only thing I had in my hands,” Hasan said.
Elaborating further, the speedster asserted that he had only one aim and that was to make a comeback and don the national colors again. “I had one aim and that was to make a comeback so that the world will remember [me]. I had a lot to prove on my fitness and performances for my comeback. I did well and carried on the same performance in international cricket. It was the hard work that paid off,” the right-hander concluded.
