Yuvraj Singh, the former cricketer who played the main role in India’s World Cup triumphs in 2007 and 2011, retired from all forms of cricket this year in July. After winning the World Cup 2011, he was diagnosed with cancer. The left handed batsman recovered from cancer towards the last of very next year in 2012. In 2013 he made his comeback and went onto play a couple of World Cups between 2013 and 2017.
The southpaw after making a comeback scored his first century in the second ODI against England in Cuttack in 2017. Just after that he was included in the Champions Trophy squad. Yuvraj didn’t have a great outing to champions trophy in 2017 where his performance was far below average. However an injury ruled him out of the team, since then he never returned to the squad as fitness biggest rival.
He cleared the yo-yo Test but then also he was not selected for the top flight
In an exclusive interview with Aaj Tak, Yuvraj Singh expressed that management let him down when he was on the verge of his retirement and could have featured in the World Cup 2019. “(I) Regret that I couldn’t play another World Cup after 2011. There was hardly any support from the team management or people around. If that support was there then maybe I would have played another World Cup, But whatever cricket I played it’s on my own. I never had any godfather,” Yuvraj Singh said.
Yuvraj Singh went on to say that management should not treat the players who have served the nation for more than fifteen years in a bad way and the same was done with Virender Sehwag and Zaheer Khan. “I think it was unfortunate because a guy who played international cricket for 15-16 years, you need to sit and tell him up front. No one told me and no one told Virender Sehwag or Zaheer Khan either,” veteran Indian all-rounder added.
Now, after retiring from cricket Yuvraj recently featured in Global T20 Canada league 2019 and was the skipper of Toronto Nationals. He scored 153 runs with a smashing strike rate of 145 in 6 matches in that tournament.
