Jos Buttler, the England wicketkeeper was brought under the scanner for using abusive words against Vernon Philander in the second Test of the four-match Test series on Day 5. Many former cricketing legends criticised him for his inappropriate behaviour but Kevin Peitersen has come up supporting the wicketkeeper over the same.
England batsmen successfully managed to put forward a mammoth target of 437 in front of the hosts. And, it seemed like that would be a cakewalk for England’s experienced bowling force to castle Proteas batsmen but that was not the case. The visitors’ bowlers had to work quite hard to win the game against all the odds.
Kevin Pietersen comes out in support of Jos Buttler
South Africa were in the mood to end the match on a draw and had approached it in the same way. The Proteas batsmen were playing quite slow that was building frustration in the fielding side as the English bowlers were trying their level best to scalp some wickets. Although they got success in the match, they had to bowl bundles of overs for the same.
In the 127th over of the match, Jos Buttler sledged Vernon Philander by using some cuss words. Moreover, his voice was recorded in the stump-mic. He said, “Get out the f*****g way,” and soon the Proteas batter turned towards Buttler and stared England wicketkeeper with anger. Meanwhile, Ben Stokes also got involved in the incident. “Don’t stare him out. He’s got a point, mate.” Stokes said.
Now Kevin Pietersen, the former England cricketer has come up in support of Buttler. He said that there are a lot of things that go in a Test match. The former player took to his Twitter handle and wrote, “LOTS having a go at @josbuttler here!. LEAVE HIM ALONE!. This is Test Cricket and believe me, this is nothing compared to lots that go on, on the field. Series is the alive big time!. END OF!.”
Coming onto the game, England won the game by a margin of 189 runs and Ben Stokes was awarded Man of the Match for giving a brilliant all-round performance in the second Test. Now, the series has come down on a level by 1-1 and the next game of the four-match series is scheduled to be played at St George’s Park in Port Elizabeth starting on January 16.
Here is the post from Kevin Peitersen:
