The Indian skipper Virat Kohli is known for his mental strength and leaving-no-stones-unturned approach on the cricketing turf. However, the superhuman has shown his human side time and again. Earlier, the batting brilliant has given his fans an insight on how negativity chipped in his life after a slew of ordinary performances against England in 2014.
Recently, in a video shared by Cricket Australia, Virat can be seen highlighting another stooping low moment which took a severe toll on his head. Going down the memory lane, he reminisces about a group stage match in South Africa back in the 2009 ICC Champions Trophy.

Talking about the incident, India was battling out hard against the mighty Pakistan who had posted a massive 303 total on the board in 2009 Champions Trophy. In reply, the Men-in-blue had a steady start with the opening duo- Gautam Gambhir and Sachin Tendulkar getting dismissed after scoring 57 and 8 runs respectively. In came at 4, the then-rookie Virat Kohli under tremendous pressure on his shoulders. As things panned out, he failed to live up to his expectations.
After scoring a trivial 16 runs, he was shown the way to dressing room by the all-rounder Shahid Afridi. The 32-year-old had a strong feeling that his career was over. Eventually, it snatched his good-night sleep as he continued to ponder over his ordinary performance in the high-octane match. India eventually lost the game and Kohli thought that his career is finished at that point of time.
“I made my comeback against Pakistan during the 2009 Champions Trophy. I remember getting out on 16 while trying to hit Shahid Afridi over his head for a six and got caught at long-off. We lost the game and till 5 am in the morning, I was looking at the ceiling and thinking I am done and gone,” Virat Kohli said in a YouTube video uploaded on cricket.com.au.
11 years since that day, Virat Kohli is leading men in blue in all three formats and he has been a successful skipper so far.
