Even a decade ago, while the broadcasting aspect was mostly about males, the trends have changed in the last few years. Female anchors are coming to the fore and haven’t flattered to deceive by any stretch of their imagination.

1. Mayanti Langer
Mayanti Langer has been the face of Indian cricket broadcasting for quite a few years. Having plying her trade since 2006, the 35-year-old generally works with Star Sports. In 2010, she hosted the prestigious Commonwealth Games in Delhi followed by the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2011 that India won.
Thereafter in 2012, the Delhi-born talent tied the knots with Stuart Binny, the Indian all-rounder. Moreover, Mayanti has also been showing off her cricket knowledge before and after matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
She also had a fair amount of interest in football and went on to work for many shows on Zee Network. In 2010, she was a host in the FIFA World Cup broadcast in India. Mayanti is the proud daughter of Lieutenant General Sanjiv Langer (Retired) of the Indian Army.
2. Jannatul Peya Ferdous
Jannatul Peya Ferdous won the Miss Bangladesh award in 2007 after which her career took off. The 28-year-old is also the first cover girl of Vogue India from the Asian country. The woman prodigy draws inspiration from popular Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone and wants to taste success internationally.
In 2017, Peya hosted a number of matches in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). In 2018, she made her second BPL appearance on GTV screen. Following a couple of impressive campaigns, Ferdous was called up as a presenter in the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales.
In fact, she was the first presenter from Bangladesh to take part in the mega event. In 2012, she debuted in movies with Redwan Rony’s Chorabali. In 2014, she also had the privilege of working in a Hindu music video.
3. Zainab Abbas
Zainab Abbas has been a popular figure in the Pakistan broadcasting. Until 2015, she used to work as a makeup artist after which she auditioned for a cricket World Cup programme. It marked the start of her cricket career and she has hosted a number of sports shows like ‘Sawal Cricket Ka’ and ‘Cricket Dewangi’.
From 2017 onwards, the 32-year-old has also been a part of Pakistan Super League (PSL). During the T20 tournament, Abbas has been seen, interviewing a number of players. In 2019, she became the first Pakistani to become International Cricket Council’s (ICC) presenter in the World Cup.
In November 2019, Zainab entered into wedlock with Hamza Kardar, the grandson of the legendary Abdul Hafeez Kardar, the first captain of the Pakistan cricket team way back in October 1952 against India.
4. Erin Holland
Erin Holland, the fiancée of all-rounder Ben Cutting, is a former Miss World, an award she won back in 2013. In the same year, she also beat 32 finalists and won the Miss World Australia title. As far as cricket is concerned, she has featured in most of tournaments.
Along with Zainab, she has also been a part of the PSL. Even in the Big Bash League (BBL), she has weaved her magic with grace and elegance. At times, she also had to interview Cutting and the camaraderie between them can well be seen.
Moreover, the 31-year-old has worked as a presenter in the Global T20 Canada. Holland is also a trained soprano singer and in fact, she holds a bachelor of Classical Voice degree. Recently, she celebrated her birthday on March 24 in self self-isolation due to the massive COVID pandemic
5. Isa Guha
Isa Guha is the only anchor in the list who is also a former cricketer. From 2001 to 2011, the now 34-year-old played for the England women’s cricket team. On March 9, 2012, she retired from the sport. It was the same day when the legendary Rahul Dravid went away from international cricket.
Currently, she is one of the well-known commentators. She was also a part of the Ashes 2019 on English soil. There she got a chance to describe Steve Smith’s Test century on return after the ball-tampering scandal.
She is a Test Match Special commentator and also writes column for the BBC Sports website. Moreover, Guha was a member of the broadcasting panel in the 2019 World Cup which England won. In September 2018, the Buckinghamshire-born tied the knots with musician Richard Thomas.
