Recently, the 2021 edition of the T10 league was held in Abu Dhabi. The league has already had successful seasons in the past and this season did not disappoint either. A total of 29 matches were played in the league with various players showcasing their talent.
The league started on 28 January 2021 and concluded on the 6th of February. The final was played between the inaugural champions Northern Warriors and the first time finalists Delhi Bulls.
It was the Northern Warriors, who at the back of their solid performances, won their second title. T10 itself is derived from the twenty-twenty cricket, as the nature of both the formats is pretty similar.
Thus, here we look at 5 players from the T10 league who can cause bidding wars in the IPL auction:
1) Evin Lewis
The left-handed Caribbean is well-known for his aggressive hitting prowess. He played for the finalists Delhi Bulls in the T10 this year and had a pretty good season, enough to grab the attention of the IPL franchises.
Opening for the Bulls, Lewis scored 216 runs in 8 matches at an astonishing average of 54. Apart from that, his strike rate went over the roof, hitting them at a striking rate of over 242. He has also scored the second most number of sixes in the tournament behind fellow West Indian Nicholas Pooran.
Lewis has played in the IPL before and he did have a good tournament but could not play many seasons. However, with such a good striking ability, he can be an impact player for sure. A team looking for a solid opener can definitely go for him.
2) Jamie Overton
The tall English pace-allrounder Jamie Overton was among the wickets this T10 season. A wicket-taking bowler is what all teams target in the shorter formats. Overton has been able to produce a similar kind of display this season.
Overton played for Team Abu Dhabi and picked 12 wickets in 9 matches. Given that a bowler can bowl only 2 overs in an innings, this is quite a good number. He was the highest wicket-taker in the league and his average was 16.67. His best bowling figures came against the Bangla Tigers where he picked 4 for 24. He was a bit expensive, but his knack for picking wickets is the biggest skill.
He is also a handy lower-order batsman and can strike them pretty well. Many IPL teams like RCB, CSK, and few others will be looking for an all-rounder, Overton can be a good choice.
3) Fabian Allen
The West Indian allrounder produced some very good performances in the T10 league. He played for the champions Northern Warriors and had a pretty important role in their journey to the title.
He was the second-highest wicket-taker of the tournament, taking 11 wickets in 9 matches. He also had the best bowling strike rate in the league of 5.82. His best bowling figures read 4-13, coming against Team Abu Dhabi. He also played some good finishing knocks for his team and could have contributed more had he batted higher up the order.
Caribbean allrounders like Kieron Pollard and Andre Russell have been legends in the IPL. Allen is also a decent player and can be picked by many teams, who knows he might be the next one.
4) Tom Banton
The English batsman did pretty well this T10 season playing for the Qalandars. He stood up to his big-hitting impression from the T20 Blast and hit wonderfully.
He scored 138 runs in the season in a total of 7 games. His average was 20, which is not that bad in 10-overs cricket. He gave good starts to his team playing at the top of the order, but could not carry his form very long in the tournament.
Banton played for KKR last season but could not impress much and has been released by them. He is definitely a solid player, and if he brings about consistency in his game, he could cause many teams to run behind him in the auction.
5) Rovman Powell
West Indians and shorter formats of the games are a pair made in heaven. We have yet another Caribbean who impressed with his performance in the T10 league. Powell played for the Northern Warriors and had a decent season with the bat.
He scored 192 runs in 9 matches and his average was 96. He scored them at a mind-blowing strike rate of 240. He was also among the top five hitters in the league, smacking 14 out of the park. He played some crucial knocks in the middle order.
His striking prowess might have definitely grabbed many eyeballs. He might be a good middle order choice for many IPL franchises.
