New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult did not play the limited-overs series against India at home as he had to lie low due to injury. However, he certainly made his presence count by making a comeback in the red-ball cricket. The paceman played an instrumental role in the two-match Test series where he accounted for 11 dismissals in 4 innings.
In the process, the left-arm seamer became the second-highest wicket-taker for New Zealand behind veteran pacer Tim Southee who bagged 14 wickets to his name. Coming back from an injury, the left-arm seamer Boult bagged two four-wicket hauls and also did his bit with the bat to frustrate Indian bowlers.
The pacer chipped in with 38 runs at Basin Reserve in Wellington Test while also adding a quick 38-run stand for the last wicket with Ajaz Patel (4). India lost the match by 10 wickets and also ended up losing the Test series by 0-2 with a seven-wicket defeat in the next game. Boult hit the peak performance when he dismissed the big wicket, Virat Kohli, with a bouncer. Meanwhile, the pacer himself was seen engaging with the home fans in between the match.
In a viral video that has surfaced on social media, the pacer can be seen giving autographs to some section of fans in between the match. Some of the fans didn’t hesitate to come up with a weird request as they chanted ‘sign the onion’ with one of the fans carrying a huge onion in his hand. However, Trent Boult obliged the weird request from the fans as gave an autograph even on the onion.

New Zealand inflicted a 2-0 Test series win
India’s dismal run in the Test format continued once again as New Zealand registered a victory inside three days. With absolutely no steam left for India to tackle New Zealand bowling attack, they were bundled out for 124 in the second innings. India set a target of 132 for the hosts.
In reply, openers Tom Latham (52) and Tom Blundell (55) made early inroads to the India bowling attack as they added 103 runs for the opening wicket to put the hosts in the comfort zone. Indian bowlers did their best to remove both the openers including the captain Kane Williamson. Ross Taylor and Henry Nicholls steered the team past the finishing line.
In the process, New Zealand inflicted a 2-0 Test series whitewash on the highly-rated Indian national cricket team. However, Team India are still sitting comfortably on top of the points table with 360 points while New Zealand are ranked third in the table with 180 points.
