In the ongoing 2nd Test between India and New Zealand, Day 2 turned out to be a roller coaster ride with both the sides fighting hard to lay their hands on to the game. The day went into the corner of the bowlers of India and New Zealand as the batsmen were finding it quite impossible to cope up with the swing that fast bowlers were getting throughout the day. The same happened with Mayank Agarwal during the second innings of the match, who got out on an excellent ripper delivered by Trent Boult.
On Day 2, New Zealand was dismissed for a score of 235 runs and Tom Latham ended as the top scorer for his team and scored a brilliant fifty in tough conditions when the Indian bowlers were bowling at his best. Jasprit Bumrah, Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami flaunted their expertise on the second day of the Test.
They bowled quick with precision that made the life of the Kiwi batsmen miserable on the cricket field. The extra swing made it more difficult to for the hosts’ batters stay at the crease for a prolonged time. Mohammed Shami took a four-wicket haul followed by a three-fer of Jasprit Bumrah and two wickets of Umesh Yadav.
Mayank Agarwal gets dismissed against an unplayable delivery
It looked like the strong batting line up of No.1 team in the longer format might come with a good performance in the second innings but that was not the case. They lost their in-form opener, Mayank Agarwal, on an excellent ripper bowled by Trent Boult in the 2nd over of the innings.
Mayank Agarwal had added only added three runs to his scorecard when he came across a delivery that looked unplayable. The right-hander was ready with his stance when Boult pitched his delivery outside off stump and came into the batsmen, who got out in front of the stumps. Even Mayank Agarwal was left surprised over the behaviour of that delivery that got enormous swing.
Coming onto the match, by the end of Day 2, Team India was at a score of 90 runs for a loss of six wickets with all their top-order batsmen being sent back to the pavilion. After a competitive second day, it is expected that Day 3 is going to be a thriller between both sides.
