India Under-19s suffered their first defeat in the Tri-Nation Under-19s tournament as the hosts got better of them by five wickets. India came into the game by resting a couple of their top performers in the first two matches. The batting did give an impression of struggling due to the big changes made. India’s total of 256/6 in this game looked quite decent but 38 runs came via extras.
India rested their wicket-taking bowlers and their replacements couldn’t induce pressure on the hosts. They cruised to 257 with five wickets and 8 balls to spare. This was India Under-19s first Youth ODI defeat in England since 1994. India won 13 consecutive Youth ODIs in England coming into this game including 12 over England only. They will now take on Bangladesh who defeated England earlier in the tournament.
The 5th game of the Tri-Nation Under-19s Tournament between India Under-19s and Bangladesh Under-19s will be played at the College Ground in Cheltenham.
The match starts at 11:00 AM local time (10:00 AM GMT) (3:30 PM IST).
The two matches that the Cheltenham hosted in this tournament are the only Youth ODIs played here. In both games, India batted first and posted 250+ totals but couldn’t defend it against England. It clearly shows that the track stays the same throughout the game. It will come down to the quality bowling that the team defending has got and the batting depth of the chasing side.

India Under-19s might have an eye on giving all players a chance but after the defeat against England, they might bring back a couple of main players for the game against Bangladesh. On the other hand, the Bangladesh colts too won’t risk making big changes yet.
India Under-19s are expected to bounce back by registering their 3rd win of the tournament.
