The three-match T20I series between India and West Indies has been a topsy-turvy affair so far. The Men in Blue clinched the series opener by chasing down a massive total of 207 runs. KL Rahul and Virat Kohli shaped the run-chase by smashing 62 and 94* respectively. However, Kieron Pollard and Co retaliated in the second T20I and chased down a competitive total of 171 runs to square the series.
As India battled it out against West Indies in the third and final T20I of the series, the 27-year-old played a vital role in India’s quest to post a mammoth total on the scoreboard. Rahul, along with Rohit Sharma propelled India to a flying start in the powerplay itself. Rohit also showcased his calibre by smashing 71 runs off just 34 balls. However, it was after Rohit’s departure in the 12th over when Rahul put his foot on the gas pedal to take control in his hands. Rahul smashed 91 runs off just 56 balls including 9 fours 4 sixes.
Virat Kohli also joined the bandwagon after Rishabh Pant‘s dismissal. The match-winning duo of the first T20I– Rahul and Kohli, recreated its magic at Wankhede as both the batsmen stitched an explosive 94-run partnership for the third wicket. Skipper Kohli led his team from the front and scored a quick-fire 70 off just 29 balls. The ‘Kohli-Rahul’ heroics capitulated the visitors’ bowling attack to guide India to a mammoth total of 240 runs.
It will be an uphill task for the West Indies’ batsmen to chase down 240 runs against a formidable bowling attack comprising the likes of Mohammed Shami, Deepak Chahar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
KL Rahul has probably ascertained his place in the shortest format of the game by showcasing his brilliance in the T20I series. With Shikhar Dhawan’s absence from the Indian team, the Karnataka batsman has grabbed the opportunity with both the hands. KL Rahul’s brilliant knock has steered India an inch closer to the series triumph. Rahul, along with Devdutt Padikkal, was an integral part of Karnataka’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy campaign.
In a short yet impactful T20I career, the Karnataka-born batsman has scored runs at an average of 41.88 including two tons and seven half-centuries. It will be interesting to witness how Rahul performs in the overseas conditions when India lock horns with New Zealand in January.

Kohli is Outrageous, in a league of his own. He can adapt to any format and don't think anyone else comes even remotely closer across formats. To call it colloquially this is pure #Verithanam from the Men in blue #INDvWI
