After their four-wicket victory against the Windies in the opening T20I at Lauderhill, Florida, India carried on with their dominating run of form. Virat Kohli and Co managed to emerge triumphant in the second encounter at the very venue by 22 runs (DLS Method). Subsequently, the visitors took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series with one encounter left in Guyana on August 6.
Rohit top scores for the Men in Blue
Considering the pitch would get drier, India opted to bat first and the decision didn’t backfire. The visitors managed to rack up 167. Rohit Sharma (67) blended caution with aggression to set the tone for the innings. Shikhar Dhawan (23) was starting to look good before Keemo Paul castled him. Rohit carried on in his merry way and got his half-century off 40 balls. He was joined by Virat Kohli (28).
Oshane Thomas removed Rohit after which the Indian batting experienced a stutter. Rishabh Pant steered one down to the throat of third man. Kohli fell prey to Sheldon Cottrell with India in need of some lusty blows. Manish Pandey became Cottrell’s second victim. In the end, Krunal Pandya (20) wielded the bat, taking his team to a competitive score. Paul conceded 20 runs in the 20th over.
Rovman Powell- The only shining light for the hosts
The Windies opened with Sunil Narine and Evin Lewis. The latter bagged consecutive ducks, caught and bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Narine ran out of patience and charged down to Washington Sundar only to see his stumps broken. Rovman Powell (54) got sanity back into proceedings, hitting six fours and three sixes. Nicholas Pooran (19) was going nowhere with his knock, facing 34 balls.
Krunal Pandya dismissed both Powell and Pooran to bring the game in India’s favour. The onus was then on Kieron Pollard and Shimron Hetmyer to bail the Windies out of the precarious position. In the 16th over, the players went back due to lightning warning.
After a while, the heavens opened up with the DLS par score at 120. The clouds started to sneak in as well. When rain stopped play, the Windies were 98/4. Unfortunately, the showers didn’t stop and the Caribbean team couldn’t get a last crack at the target in the death overs.

Brilliant athleticism by Bhuvi to dismiss Evin Lewis of his own bowling. @BhuviOfficial as good as any of the catches the quickies have taken!

Currently seems like Paine is babysitting Smith's place as captain and Pant is babysitting Dhoni's place as keeper. #WIvsIND
