KL Rahul’s form is showing absolutely no signs of improvement. While he recently did well in the World Cup, it is his form in Tests that has become a major concern. Rahul had a terrible run in the red-ball format last year. While he was being given chances consistently, he did really little to justify that. Barring the century against England at the Oval, Rahul did not really play any other notable knock.
Since the start of 2018, Rahul has averaged 22.23 across 15 Test matches, scoring one hundred and one fifty. His career average, which stood at 44.62 before this lean run, has now slumped to 34.58. Rahul had another terrible series against West Indies where he failed to deliver in both the games. In fact, with the passage of time in the series, his form only worsened. Rahul’s scores in the series read 44, 38, 13 and 6.
With every failure of his, Rahul was facing more criticism, especially on social media. The fans did not spare Rahul at all for his terrible performances and slammed him brutally after every failure. Rahul has perhaps come across those trolls as he recently posted a cryptic message on his Instagram account. The under-performing opener posted a photo of a man who was wearing a t-shirt with the caption ‘No social media’ written on it. Rahul posted the photo with the caption: “The irony”.

India wins the Test series
KL Rahul’s form, meanwhile, did not hurt India much as they thrashed West Indies in both the Tests. After thrashing the hosts by 318 runs in the first Test, the tourists beat them by 257 runs in the second. West Indies never looked like posing any tough challenge for India throughout the series. West Indies’ performance with the bat was even worse as they registered scores of 222, 100, 117 and 210.
With the help of the two wins, India are now at the top of the ICC World Test Championship table. India now have 120 points and are followed by New Zealand who have 60. The Virat Kohli-led side will next take on South Africa at home later this month. India are hosting South Africa for three T20Is and as many Tests.
