Rahul Dravid’s ‘Indranagar ka Gunda ho mein’ dialogue has caught social media by storm. A cricketer known for his stoic nature on and off the field, Dravid displayed a totally different side of his to the world in the latest advertisement that he acted in.
In the advertisement, Dravid could be seen shouting at people and even smashing the rear-view mirror of a car next to him. And now, former Indian pacer Venkatesh Prasad has used the ‘Indranagar ka Gunda ho mein’ dialogue in one of his Twitter posts.
There is the famous incident of Aamer Sohail and Venkatesh Prasad engaging in a heated moment on the field during the 1996 World Cup. Off the 5th ball of the 15th over bowled by Prasad, Sohail smashed him for a boundary. The Pakistan batsman also gestured to the Indian bowler that he will hit him to the same place again angrily. Off the next delivery, Prasad cleaned up Sohail and gestured that Sohail should walk back to the dressing room.

Venkatesh Prasad’s three-wicket haul allows India to beat Pakistan in the 1996 World Cup
In the clash between India and Pakistan, Venkatesh Prasad scalped three wickets in his 10 overs and gave away 45 runs. Apart from scalping the wicket of Sohail, Prasad also dismissed Ijaz Ahmed and Inzamam-ul-Haq to tilt the match in favor of the Indian side.
Batting first, the Indian side scored a competitive 287/8. Navjot Singh Sidhu was the catalyst of the Indian innings and scored a 115-ball 93. In reply, Pakistan could only manage to score 248/9 and lost the match by 39 runs. Sidhu won the Man of the Match award for his scintillating performance with the willow.
The Indian side was knocked out in the semi-final stage of the 1996 World Cup. The Mohammad Azharuddin-led side lost against eventual champions Sri Lanka in the semifinal. And, if there is one lasting image that still lives in the memory of countless Indian cricket fans, it is that of Prasad cleaning up Sohail. Just for the record, Pakistan has never managed to beat the Indian side in even a single World Cup match.
