Social media, on India’s New Zealand tour, has often linked Virat Kohli’s failure with the Indian captain being too nice to the opposition. After landing in New Zealand ahead of the T20I series, Kohli had even termed the Kiwis as ‘nice guys’. This led to the social media gimmicks feeling that the 31-year-old is not being competitive enough which has led to his batting failure especially in the Test series.
Virat Kohli was also seen having a friendly chat talking about life with his counterpart Kane Williamson during the T20I series. However, all those arguments and friendship chats took a back seat on Sunday with the series on the line. With their backs against the wall, India came out firing on the second day at the New Zealand batsmen who were sitting pretty in the Test match after dominating the opening day.
With Umesh Yadav nipping out Tom Blundell early in the day, Virat Kohli was pumped up. The Kiwi skipper walked to the middle and for a change, endured a failure getting out to Jasprit Bumrah who was relentless throughout the morning.
Virat Kohli fired up while celebrating the wicket
Kane Williamson poked at a pacy delivery only to edge it to the wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant and then began the fiery celebrations in the Indian camp. No doubt it was a huge wicket in the context of the game and Virat Kohli let his counterpart know the same clearly. He gave the New Zealand captain a fiery send-off while he was walking off from the wicket after getting out.

Virat Kohli was in the game throughout New Zealand’s innings and was involved in banter with a section of the crowd at the Hagley Oval as well. He was spotted murmuring something looking at them multiple times after picking wickets of the home side during the day’s play.
As far as the game is concerned, after a poor display on the first day, the Indian bowlers delivered their best on the second morning. They reduced the Kiwis from 63/0 to 235/10 thanks to some exceptional fielding from Ravindra Jadeja as well.
