West Indies successfully managed to pull off a brilliant victory over India in the 2nd T20I of the three-match series. In the second game played in Trivandrum, it was all about West Indies’ formidable batting and bowling display. However, one incident that hogged the spotlight was the spectacular catch of Virat Kohli.
Kohli is one of the influential athletes and a fitness role model for everyone in the country. He spends lots of time in fielding during the practice sessions and that has sensibly worked in the favour of the Indian skipper. He is currently regarded as one of the best fielders in the national side and is known for his athletic catches.
Virat Kohli’s effort in the fielding was not enough to steer India to the victory
In the 2nd T20I, he again pulled off a spectacular catch on the boundary line that left every spectator in awe. Even the opposition batsmen along with the Indian players were surprised after watching his brilliant “running catch”. The incident happened in the 13th over of the match when Shimron Hetmyer was batting. He looked in full flow in Trivandrum and smashed two consecutive sixes on the first two deliveries off Ravindra Jadeja.
The left-handed batsman attempted to smash his third one against Jadeja and drilled a full-length delivery over the long-on for a six. Meanwhile, Kohli managed to cover good ground and stretched his body to the fullest in order to grab the catch. He also got off-balance while attempting the athletic catch near the boundary but managed to keep himself inside the ropes.
Nevertheless, his catch was not enough to make his side win the 2nd T20I. West Indies bowlers and batsmen gave brilliant performances in the second game. In bowling, Kesrick Williams and Hayden Walsh did a brilliant job with the ball and grabbed two wickets each.
In batting their opener Lendl Simmons, partnered by Evin Lewis, helped their side to get off to a great start and stitched a brilliant partnership of 73 runs. Later on, a small cameo knock played by Nicholas Pooran (38 runs off 18 balls) helped their side outclass India with nine balls to spare. The series decider between India and West Indies will be played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on December 11.
