Wasim Jaffer, the former Indian cricketer has become pro-active on social media after he bid adieu to all forms of the game back in March. Earlier, he picked his favourite all-time ODI team. Now, he has come out with best Mumbai XI that comprised of players since 1970.
The legendary player himself, Wasim Jaffer is regarded as one of the best batsmen in the domestic cricket of India. He holds several accolades next to his name like all-time leading run-scorer in Ranji Trophy, most number of hundreds in the Ranji Trophy, the only player to feature in 150 Ranji games and many more. He is known for his fine batting skills due to which he managed to rule domestic circuit for so long.
Wasim Jaffer picks his another favourite XI
Wasim Jaffer has a vast experience of playing cricket. So, using his sharp cricketing mind he has picked his favourite Mumbai team with the players that played since 1970. He included Sunil Gavaskar and Rohit Sharma as a set of openers. The duo belongs to the different generation of cricket but there is hardly any difference in their batting style as they both like to dominate bowlers on the back of their brilliant batting.
The 42-year-old former player also appointed Sunil Gavaskar as the skipper. In the team, Jaffer also picked legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar, who amassed 25,396 runs in first-class cricket. Vinod Kambli, the former Indian batsman also got place in Jaffer’s preferred Mumbai XI.
Kambli was a talented batsman of his time. However, he failed to perform well for Team India after getting some good scores in the early phase of his international career. Jaffer took to his Twitter handle and shared his team on the social media platform with his fans. Ajit Agarkar and Zaheer Khan also made it to the team already filled with legendary players.
My all time Mumbai XI since 1970:
1. Gavaskar (c)
6. C Pandit (wk)
7. Bahutule / @imrameshpowar
8. @imAagarkar/ Abdul Ismail
10. A Kuruvilla
11. P Shivalkar
12th- G Parkar
Thoughts guys? @MumbaiCricAssoc

Earlier, Jaffer was appointed as the batting coach of Kings XI Punjab for IPL 2020. He was quite excited to take up the new role after bidding farewell to cricket. But, BCCI had to postpone the 13th edition of the cash-rich league to mid-April amid Coronavirus outbreak. Also, the chances are high the league getting postponed even further as it seems impossible to organize such a big event under alarming conditions formed due to pandemic.
