David Warner didn’t play the first two Tests after he sustained an injury during the limited-overs leg of India’s tour of Australia. However, the southpaw is set to return for the third Test, scheduled to get underway on January 7 at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The SCG is a venue where Warner has grown up playing cricket and he is expected to weave magic this time around.
In the meantime, Wasim Jaffer, the former Indian cricketer, came up with a hilarious suggestion for Rishabh Pant to dismiss the prolific left-handed batsman. Jaffer, who retired from all forms of cricket last year, also kept Ravindra Jadeja and Ravi Ashwin in the copy.
Jaffer, in a rib-tickling manner, asked Pant to sing the song ‘Butta Bomma’ to distract Warner. By doing so, Jaffer reckons that Pant has every chance of getting Warner stumped. Jaffer uploaded a picture asking Pant to decode the inner message.
He captioned the picture and wrote, “Easy one for you @RishabhPant17 #decode #AUSvIND Cc: @ashwinravi99 @imjadeja.“

Back in April 2020, Warner uploaded a video on short-video platform Tik-Tok where he danced on the popular song along with his wife Candice Warner. The video gained a lot of popularity especially in India where the original song became a bigger hit after Warner and his beloved shook their legs on it. Later, Allu Arjun, the one who featured in the song, lauded the Aussie southpaw.
As far as Pant is concerned, he played a decent knock of 29 runs in the second Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. But Sydney has given him some memories to rejoice. Back in January 2019, he scored an unbeaten 159 off 189 balls with 15 fours and one hit into the stands. Though the knock couldn’t help India win the game, they won the series 2-1.
In 14 Tests, Pant has 843 runs with two centuries and two fifties at an average of 38.31. The unbeaten 159 is also his highest score in the longest format. The four-match Border-Gavaskar series is currently locked at 1-1. The Aussies started with a win in the Day-Night Adelaide Test and India came back with an eight-wicket win in Melbourne.
