Anushka Sharma, the wife of Indian skipper Virat Kohli, has talked about raising her child away from the public limelight and social media engagement. On January, the 32-year-old Bollywood actress is set to embrace motherhood and her beloved husband has joined her after taking paternity leave from India’s ongoing Border-Gavaskar series against Australia.
Back in August, Virat and Anushka made the revelations of the latter’s pregnancy. About raising their child, Anushka wishes to inculcate values in their new family member and teach the importance of being respectful to people.
In an exclusive interview with Vogue, she was clear cut in saying that they don’t wish to raise ‘brats’.
No kid should be made to be more special than the other, says Anushka Sharma
“There are so many similarities in the way we are as people and the way we approach life. So, I do think that will work for us. I’ve been thinking about it before I even became a parent. Conditioning is the most important role in how we see the world.
“Love is the underlying factor in our home, and what’s important to us is that our child is respectful of people. We don’t want to raise brats,” Anushka said.
In recent years, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s son Taimur has hogged the limelight with editorials being churned out on him on a pretty regular basis. However, Anushka reckons that every child is equally special and sounded determined for her child’s upbringing.
“We’ve thought about it a lot. We definitely do not want to raise a child in the public eye—we don’t plan on engaging our child in social media. I think it’s a decision your child should be able to take. No kid should be made to be more special than the other. It’s hard enough for adults to deal with it. It’s going to be difficult, but we intend to follow through,” she added.
When he took the paternity leave, Virat was greeted with mixed reactions. Even as a number of them believe that he took the right call of being with his better-half, a few reckon that he should have served his nation and played the last three Tests in Australia.
