These are unprecedented times for humanity. The proliferation of pandemic that is the novel coronavirus has taken the world by storm. More than 460,000 people have been infected by the COVID-19 virus, which emerged from the Wuhan city of China last year. The entire world is in a lockdown as the world grapples with the rising threat.
From schools to offices to railways to airplanes to sporting events, everything has been put on a backburner and an indefinite period of self-isolation lies ahead. One of the prime reasons for the rise of such a virus is obviously human beings, whose eating habits have degraded to such an extent that we do not even shy away from eating raw animals like bats and dogs.
In a long video on his official Youtube channel, Shoaib Akhtar lambasted the people for the same. Akhtar said that our eating habits which include eating junk foods, drinking fizzy drinks has resulted in the degradation of our immune system. He also urged people to keep their lungs in good shape if they have to fight the menace that is COVID-19.
“If we have to fight coronavirus, we ought to keep our lungs in good shape. We need to blame ourselves as we have ruined our immune system by eating a lot of junk food in the last 20 odd years.
Had we eaten at home and avoided fizzy drinks our immunity would have been good. The disease hasn’t come forward but our immunity has fallen,” Akhtar said.
Shoaib Akhtar also lambasted the so-called Whatsapp doctors
“Everybody has come up with a video with respect to coronavirus and I don’t under why is it thay they try to gain advantage of such situations. We need to avoid sending crass jokes about coronavirus on WhatsApp and spend time with our families. This is a serious disease,” he said.
Akhtar also went on to take his fellow Pakistanis to ask, who he thinks are treating this lockdown as a picnic.
“I went outside for some really important work today. I did not shake hands with anyone or hugged anyone. The windows of my car were closed the entire time and I came back home as soon as possible. But I noticed a very worrying trend outside.
I saw 4 guys travelling on one bike, they were going for a picnic. People are having food together outside, travelling to other places. Why are restaurants still open, why are we not closing them,” Akhtar said in the YouTube video.
