Bangladesh cricket team is scheduled to play Test and T20I series next year in Pakistan between January and February. However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board is still in doubt over it and have shown an approach to play only T20I series in Pakistan. BCB wants to play the longer format games at a neutral venue.
Earlier this year, Pakistan had successfully hosted a T20I and ODI series against Sri Lanka and PCB was in talks with BCB (Bangladesh Cricket Board) over hosting a T20I and Test series against their national team. In contrary to that, Pakistan Cricket Board has already sent a draft with a schedule to its counterparts.
Bangladesh Cricket operation chairman opens up on Pakistan tour
Now, the chairman of BCB cricket operation Bangladesh Akram Khan has stated that they might ask PCB to split Test and T20I series. However, which series will be played first will depend on the security reports. According to him, if they don’t get a green signal from the officers, they might discuss with PCB to play at a neutral venue.
“We may ask Pakistan to split the Test and Twenty20 series. Which series we play first will depend on the security report. If we don’t get the green signal for some reason then we have to discuss with them over playing at a neutral venue but if we get the green signal then it’s different,” the chairman of BCB cricket operation Akram Khan said as quoted by Cricbuzz.
He also added that they are waiting for the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the government and only then they can think about the tour. Moreover, they will also sit along with the players and take their opinions as well before heading towards further proceedings related to the Pakistan tour.
“The government NOC is more important for us than Sri Lanka. Because only then (after getting the NOC) we can think of the tour. We are waiting for a suggestion from the government. We will naturally sit with the players and take their opinion as well.” Akram pointed added.
Earlier this year, BCB had sent national women’s team and Bangladesh under-16 team on a tour to Pakistan after Bangladesh government gave a green signal. BCB are waiting for the same response from government delegates in the upcoming days.
