India A continued their performances from the unofficial ODI series into the Test series against the West Indies A. They took a 1-0 lead in the 3-match series with a 6-wicket win in the Antigua Test. The left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem claimed ten wickets in the game with 5-fers in both innings. The home team could only score 228 and 180 in the two innings after winning the toss.
India posted 312 in their first innings and took an 84-run lead. Wriddhiman Saha (66) and Shivam Dube (71) made key contributions by sharing a 124-run stand for 6th wicket. India chased the target of 97 for the loss of four wickets. The 2nd Test will witness the inclusion of the opener Mayank Agarwal and pacer Umesh Yadav. The two players will warm-up for Test series against Windies in August.
The 2nd game of the 3-match Unofficial Test series between West Indies A and India A will be hosted by the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
The match starts at 9:30 AM local time (1:30 PM GMT) (7:00 PM IST). The game will be streamed live on YouTube by Windes Cricket.
The pitches in the Caribbean have been on the slower side for a while now. The first unofficial Test between West Indies A and India A witnessed something that is often seen in Asia. The spinners on both the sides accounted for 19 wickets in the game played in Antigua. The Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain might not be any different as Rangana Herath and Devendra Bishoo took 4-fers during a Test match played in 2018 at this venue.
