The 2nd game of the 3-match ODI series between West Indies Women and India Women will be hosted by the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua.
The match starts at 1:30 PM local time (5:30 PM GMT) (11:00 PM IST).
The game can be viewed on Windies Cricket’s YouTube channel.
India Women’s tour of Caribbean started off in a disastrous way as they fell 1-run short of a 226-run chase which they dominated for nearly 40 overs. West Indies came into the game having lost each of their last eight ODI matches. Stafanie Taylor led her team from the front with a 91-ball 94 which included 8 fours and two sixes. Her knock helped the hosts to post 225/7 in their 50 overs.
India had good partnerships at the top but it is their run-rate at which they scored came back to hit them. The absence of Smriti Mandhana in the top-order seemed to have exposed on Friday as they were left with way too many runs to chase. The visitors struggled in the last 10-15 overs on a track which was getting slower. India Women have to wait for one more game for drafting Mandhana into playing XI.
Sunday could be a start-spot kind of day at the Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. Starting from the 11 AM local time, showers are predicted at the venue till the end of the day.
The track at the Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua looked slower during the first ODI but the batters didn’t show many struggles. The two games this venue hosted during the recent Australia series behaved the same way. We could witness another game with a match aggregate around 450 runs on Sunday as well.
Average 1st inning score: 238 (Women’s ODIs)
Record of chasing teams: Won – 1, Lost – 2
Injury and Availablity:
Smriti Mandhana won’t be available for selection till the 3rd ODI.
Chinelle Henry suffered a concussion during the first ODI.
Probable Playing XIs:
West Indies Women:
Stacy-Ann King, Natasha McLean, Shemaine Campbelle (WK), Stafanie Taylor (C), Britney Cooper, Kyshona Knight, Chedean Nation, Sheneta Grimmond, Aaliyah Alleyne, Shabika Gajnabi, Anisa Mohammed.
Bench – Chinelle Henry, Shawnisha Hector, Afy Fletcher.
Jemimah Rodrigues, Priya Punia, Punam Raut, Mithali Raj (C), Harmanpreet Kaur, Deepti Sharma, Taniya Bhatia (WK), Jhulan Goswami, Shikha Pandey, Poonam Yadav, Ekta Bisht.
Bench – Smriti Mandhana, D Hemalatha, Mansi Joshi, Sushma Verma, Rajeshwari Gayakwad.
Deepti Sharma picked up two wickets and scored 19 runs in the first ODI. Her bowling contribution was well on par but the Indian team will be benefited if she scores more. Sheneta Grimmond didn’t get much chance in the first ODI but is capable of scoring quick runs down the order. India will be expecting more from Ekta Bisht and Poonam Yadav than what they did during the previous match.
Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:
Captain – Deepti Sharma, Stafanie Taylor, Mithali Raj, Chinelle Henry
Vice-Captain – Jemimah Rodrigues, Harmanpreet Kaur, Afy Fletcher, Sheneta Grimmond
The all-round ability of Stafanie Taylor makes her must as captain or vice-captain in fantasy cricket.
Suggested Playing XI No.1 for Fantasy Cricket:
Keeper – Natasha McLean
Batters – Jemimah Rodrigues, Chedean Nation, Priya Punia (VC)
All-Rounders – Deepti Sharma, Stafanie Taylor (C), Shikha Pandey, Stacy-Ann King
Bowlers – Poonam Yadav, Jhulan Goswami, Anisa Mohammed
Suggested Playing XI No.2 for Fantasy Cricket:
Keeper – Shemaine Campbelle
Batters – Jemimah Rodrigues, Mithali Raj, Chedean Nation
All-Rounders – Deepti Sharma (C), Stafanie Taylor (VC), Stacy-Ann King, Harmanpreet Kaur
Bowlers – Ekta Bisht, Poonam Yadav, Anisa Mohammed
There is a space of picking at least four Indian players from all-rounders and bowlers’ category. Deepti Sharma and Poonam Yadav will be sure names. Ekta Bisht is the most consistent player among the remaining options. Shikha Pandey makes most on her day while Harmanpreet Kaur is more of a disaster-management. The major impact in the current line-up through Kaur’s performances will be when she walked to bat halfway stage and gets a decent number of overs.
India Women are expected to level the series if the weather permits a result.
