Aamer Yamin, the Pakistan right-arm fast bowler, has taken a dig at the Ahmedabad crowd during the first T20I between India and England at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The official attendance in the opening match on Friday, March 12, was a stunning 67,200.
The newly-built venue is known as the largest in the world of cricket with a total capacity of way past a lakh. Two Test matches between India and England also took place in Ahmedabad. ESPNcricinfo posted a picture of the crowd capacity with fans cheering for the home team.
Thereafter, Yamin came up with the comment, surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. He replied to the post and wrote, “Where is Corona?”

Aamer Yamin a part of Karachi Kings
Yamin was recently a part of the Karachi Kings in the 2021 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). In three games, he could only pick a single wicket for the team, led by Imad Wasim.
He was also a part of the Pakistan squad for their home T20I series against South Africa, though he couldn’t play a game. Overall, in four ODIs and two T20Is, he has a combined tally of four wickets.
As far as India’s game on Friday was concerned, Virat Kohli, the hosts’ skipper, was clear-cut in saying that their batsmen were lacklustre in their approach. He also praised Shreyas Iyer, who scored 67 off 48 and helped India post a decent score after the loss of the early wickets.
“We just weren’t aware enough of what to do on that kind of pitch. Lack of execution of some of the shots and something we have to address as batsmen. It wasn’t an ideal day in the park. You have to accept your faults and come back in the next game with much more intent and clarity of plan,” Virat was quoted as saying after the game.
“The wicket probably did not allow you to hit the kind of shots you wanted to, Shreyas’ innings was an example of how you can use the depth of the crease and ride the bounce. It was a below-par batting performance and England made us pay,” he added.
