India sealed yet another ODI series against the Windies as they cruised to a 6-wicket win in the final game of the 3-match ODI series. Virat Kohli’s second successive hundred powered India to a comfortable victory in a revised chase of 255 in 35 overs. Kohli’s 120-run stand with Shreyas Iyer for the 4th wicket turned out to be decisive. Earlier, Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis added 115 in only 10.5 overs for the first wicket. However, the middle-order failed to keep the run rate going along as the hosts finished on 240/7 in the restricted 35 overs.
All the major statistical highlights from India’s ODI series win in Trinidad:
India’s new fortress:
9 – India has not lost any of the nine ODIs they played in Port of Spain since the start of 2011. India won eight of those nine games while the 2017 series game ended in a washout. India’s last defeat at this venue came in the 2007 World Cup against Sri Lanka. This is now their longest unbeaten ODI streak at any venue. They are currently on an unbeaten 9-match streak in ODIs since the start of 2013 in Harare.
India’s domination and Windies’ misery:
9 – India won each of their last nine ODI series against the Windies. The last time they lost a bilateral ODI series against the Windies was in the Caribbean during the 5-match ODI series in 2006.
15 – Windies have not won any of their last 15 bilateral ODI series. Their last bilateral ODI series win came at home against Bangladesh. Since then, Windies drew two series and lost in 13 of them.
Kohli levels with Rohit:
15 – Number of centuries in ODI cricket for Virat Kohli outside Asia; the joint-most by any Indians. Rohit Sharma also has 15 ODI hundreds outside the sub-continent.

A game of milestones for Kohli:
176 – Innings Virat needed to complete 10000 runs in International cricket as captain; the fewest by any player. The previous quickest to 10000 International runs as captain was Ricky Ponting in 225 innings.
20018 – Virat Kohli became the first player to amass 20000 International runs in a calendar decade. The Indian skipper has thus far scored 20018 runs across all International formats in the 2010s.
Windies’ fastest 100:
9.1 – Windies reached 100 in only 9.1 overs; the fewest they have taken to complete team 100 in ODI format (where known). They completed 100 in the 2003 World Cup game against Canada in only 9.2 overs.
2014 – Last time the Windies had a century opening stand in a home ODI was way back in February 2014. The Windies spent 34 consecutive ODI innings at home without a century partnership for the first wicket.
Rohit’s worst as an opener:
28 – Runs Rohit Sharma has scored in this series; the fewest by him as an opener in any ODI series. Rohit scored only 37 runs across the two innings in the 2013 ODI series in South Africa. These two are the only ODI series/tournaments where Rohit failed to score a fifty as an opener.
