The 8th match of the Women’s Super Smash 2019-20 will be played between Northern Spirit and Central Hinds at the Lincoln Green.
The match starts at 10:00 AM local time (9:00 PM GMT – Prev Day) (2:30 AM IST).
The Central Hinds and Northern Spirit will face off for the second time in two days. The two sides met on Saturday morning at the Bert Sutcliffe Oval. The Hinds got to a good score of 161/6 which was chased down by the Northern Spirit team with ten balls to spare for the loss of only three wickets. Later, both the teams featured in one more match on Saturday and had contrasting returns. Hinds were bowled out for just 56 against Otago Sparks while Spirit lost to Wellington Blaze by just 9 runs while chasing a big target of 185. Katie Gurrey was the star for Spirit on Saturday as she struck 70+ scores in both matches.
The Lincoln Green ground is expected to witness pleasant weather on Sunday.
The Lincoln Green ground had an average score of 98 in the Women’s Super Smash 2018/19. However, Wellington Blaze posted 180+ in both the matches played across the first two days of this tournament. On Saturday, the Northern Spirit came close to chase the target of 185 as they finished with 175. Hence, we hope the batting first side post at least 150 on Sunday morning.

Katie Gurrey was brilliant with the bat in the last edition as she struck four fifties in seven innings. On Saturday, she was the top-performer for her team with scores of 90* and 71. Hannah Rowe is consistent wicket-taker for Central Hinds as she bagged 8 wickets in 8 games in 2018/19. In three matches across the first two days, she took four wickets including a 3-fer. Jess Watkin is yet to make a mark in this tournament. However, she opens the batting and bowls four overs which is good enough to be picked.
Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:
Captain – Katie Gurrey, Jess Watkin, Hannah Rowe
Vice-Captain – Bernadine Bezuidenhout, Natalie Dodd, Eimear Richardson.
Suggested Playing XI No.1 for Fantasy Cricket:
Keeper – Bernadine Bezuidenhout, Natalie Dodd
Batters – Katie Gurrey (C), Emily Cunningham, Kerry Tomlinson
All-Rounders – Felicity Leydon-Davis, Kate Anderson, Hannah Rowe (VC)
Bowlers – Monique Rees, Carolyn Esterhuizen, Eimear Richardson
Suggested Playing XI No.2 for Fantasy Cricket:
Keeper – Bernadine Bezuidenhout (VC)
Batters – Katie Gurrey, Emily Cunningham, Anlo Van Deventer
All-Rounders – Jess Watkin (C), Felicity Leydon-Davis, Kate Anderson, Hannah Rowe
Bowlers – Rosemary Mair, Georgia Atkinson, Eimear Richardson
Rosemary Mair is a quite important player in the Central Hinds team. She began the tournament with a couple of wickets on Friday but didn’t feature in both matches on Saturday. We assume there is some fitness issue and hence she is unlikely to play the match on Sunday.
Northern Spirit is expected to register their 2nd win of the tournament.
