After all the speculations, it’s finally confirmed that the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) will be taking place. While the tournament’s confirmation has made everyone happy, the board will have to address many issues before the cash-rich league actually takes place.
The team logistics is something the owners are looking at. In a league stretching as long as almost 50 days, net bowlers become a very important part. Bengal pace duo of Akash Deep and Sayan Ghosh will be a part of the Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab squads respectively as net bowlers for the IPL 2020.
“We are happy that the franchises have shown interest in the two young lads. The discussions were on during the last few days and they have confirmed this today. They would be joining as squad bowlers, wish both of them all the best for their success,” CAB president Avishek Dalmiya said in a statement. He was definitely happy for the young cricketers.
CAB secretary Snehashis Ganguly added, “These players are very talented and has a lot of potential. This stay with the franchises for some 75 to 80 days will further help them hone their skills.” There is no doubt about this statement. Staying around high-quality players for such a long time will definitely help youngsters enhance their skills.
Lot to learn from Steve Smith: Akash Deep
Both players are highly excited about this opportunity. “I will get a chance to bowl to some of the best in the world. Besides with Steve Smith as skipper and Andrew McDonald as a coach there will be a lot to learn,” Akash Deep told India Today. Steve Smith who is not only a brilliant batsman but also a great leader, can definitely help the Bengal pacer learn a lot.
“It’s a great opportunity for me. And the experience I will gain will help Bengal in future. It is a welcome break from being lockdown in our houses. I can bowl and play cricket which is a great motivation,” Ghosh told.
After being stuck in the lockdown for several months, the IPL has definitely come as a relief to all the cricketers. Ghosh is also excited about bowling to the likes of KL Rahul and Chris Gayle.
