Suryakumar Yadav has been performing well in the Indian domestic circuit for quite some years now. The 29-year-old has played some spectacular knocks for Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Mumbai batsman is currently plying trade for his team in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy and he delivered in his first match itself.
In the match against Chhattisgarh in Alur, he came to bat at number five and notched 81 runs off 31 balls with the help of eight boundaries and six hits into the stands. His quick-fire hand helped Mumbai put up 317 for the loss of five wickets in their 50 overs. However, the knock couldn’t help Mumbai evade a defeat as Chhattisgarh chased the target down with one ball to spare.

Amandeep Khare scored a 94-ball 117 to nullify Yadav’s masterclass with the bat in hand. In the meantime, Harbhajan Singh, the former Indian cricketer, feels that the Mumbai batter should be getting chances in the national team. Yadav being ignored surprises the Turbanator as the right-hander has been a prolific run-scorer for his domestic side in all the formats.
Yadav averages 43.01, 34.11 and 29.43 in first-class, List A and T20 cricket respectively. He took to Twitter and wrote, “Don’t know why he doesn’t get picked for india after scoring runs heavily in domestic cricket, @surya_14kumar, keep working hard.. your time will come,”

However, Yuvraj Singh, another retired Indian cricketer, had a different opinion on the matter. Yuvraj, who retired earlier this year, feels that India don’t need a number four batter. He replied to Harbhajan’s tweet and wrote, “Yaar I told you ! They don’t need a no 4 top order is very strong,”

In a previous interview, Yuvraj said the same thing as he reckons that the Men in Blue has a prolific top order. The number four conundrum has created headaches for the Indian team management for quite a few years. Lately, even Vikram Rathour, Team India’s batting coach, talked about finding a solution to the ever-lasting problem.
