Two-time defending champion Francesco Bagnaia won his third consecutive race at MotoGP Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez. His amazing performance outplayed Marc Marquez by a third of a tenth second to clinch the top positions.

Notably, this is Marc Marquez’s third consecutive loss at his home track despite being the favourite to win the race. Meanwhile, Bagnaia got his second win of the season by staying ahead on his factory Ducati. He sailed even though Marquez tried hard on his Ducati satellite Gresini bike to take a decisive lead.

Marquez, who hadn't been in the first position since the Portuguese MotoGP in March 2023, has had a lot of health and injury issues over the years. But the 31-year-old former six-time MotoGP champion showed that he's back in good form by getting his best result since coming second in the Australian MotoGP in October 2022.

Jorge Martin faces heartbreak at Jerez!

The crowd at Jerez saw a massive heartbreak when championship leader Jorge Martin crashed out when leading with 15 laps to go. Martin who had won Saturday’s Sprint race by a huge margin failed to put up a show as he crashed out at a crucial juncture.

As 15 laps to go Martin along with Bagnaia was increasing their lead above the remaining pack. However, the race took a dramatic turn when under pressure Martin made a mistake and crashed out of the race.

Despite that, Jorge Martin maintained a healthy lead into the standings as he led Bagnaia by 17 crucial points. It’s worth noting that Marquez has not won a race since securing his 59th career win at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix in October 2021 -- 900 days ago.
