Philadelphia 76ers head coach Nick Nurse and forward Kelly Oubre Jr. have been fined $50,000 each for abusing the officials at the end of the match as they lost the match to Los Angeles Clippers by 108-107 on Wednesday.

On Friday, the NBA released the statement that both have been imposed with fines for their actions towards the officials. Kelly Oubre Jr. was fined for verbally abusing and making bad gestures to the referee. Nick Nurse thought that Kelly Oubre Jr. was fouled by Paul George of Los Angeles as he was going to score in the basket. He walked into the court to argue but was stopped by assistants.

In a pool report after the game referee Kevin Scott admitted that Paul George should receive a fine for a foul on the play. If there was a foul Kelly Oubre would have gone to the free throw line for a chance to win or tie the game.

“In real time the crew interpreted that play as the defender jumping vertically,” Scott said in a pool report. “However, in post-game video review we did observe some slight drift to his left by the defender George, and a foul should have been ruled.” (source: News18)

Want to apologize for losing my cool - Kelly Oubre

Oubre eventually apologized for approaching the officials.  “In the heat of the moment in an intense basketball game of course and we’re not perfect. The refs are not perfect,” Oubre said at the time. “I want to apologize for losing my cool because that’s something I work on each and every day and trying to represent God in the best way that I can. And that wasn’t it.” (Source: News18)
