The five-time champion Mumbai Indians have suffered their eighth loss in the IPL 2024 as they recently suffered a huge loss against KKR on May 3 at the iconic Wankhede Cricket Stadium in Mumbai, which places them at the bottom of the points table. Notably, despite that, the five-time IPL winners have a chance to grab a spot in the playoffs.

However, the Hardik Pandya-led side must win the rest of the three matches against Sunrises Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Lucknow Super Giants if they aim to make the playoffs. In addition, the MI side needs to hope that SRH and LSG do not win any of the remaining games of IPL 2024 to boost MI's rankings in the points table.

Meanwhile, MI also needs to hope that Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals do not get more than one win in the tournament, while PBKS and GT should not get more than two wins in the remaining games. Notably, if these scenarios take place, MI will grab a spot in either the third or fourth position in the points table.

It’s challenging but challenges make you better: Hardik Pandya

MI skipper Hardik Pandya has recently talked about the loss they suffered after the close battle against KKR in their recent game.

"I mean obviously in the batting inning, we couldn’t form partnerships and kept losing wickets, in T20s if you don’t form partnerships, it will cost you. Not much, there are a lot of questions that will take some time to answer but for now, there is not much to say. As you mentioned, the bowlers did a fantastic job, the wicket got a little better after the first innings, and the dew came on. We will go through the game and see what could we have done better. You keep fighting, that is what I tell to myself, never leave the battlefield, tough days come but good also come here, it’s challenging but challenges make you better," Hardik Pandya said after the loss.
