Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opener Devon Conway is ruled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 due to injury. Played in two seasons, Conway had been a great opener for CSK and was a perfect replacement for Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis. He had played in 23 matches and scored 924 runs including 9 half-centuries and a highest score of 92*.

Moreover, CSK has announced Richard Gleeson as Conway's replacement for the remainder of the IPL 2024. He will be joining the team at a base price of 50 lakhs. Gleeson has played for England in 6 T20Is and has taken 9 wickets. Also, Gleeson has played 90 T20s and picked 101 T20 wickets. Although CSK's overseas slot is filled, Gleeson might get a chance towards the end of the tournament considering his stats.

In February, Conway suffered a fracture in the joint of his left thumb during the second T20I against Australia in Auckland. After that, he went for surgery and was hoping to be back in IPL 2024. However, he isn't fully fit and will miss the entire IPL season this year. More than anything, CSK is missing their opener since Rachin Ravindra hasn't fired yet.

'I was told to keep it calm and do my thing...' - Matheesha Pathirana after winning the POTM award

For his brilliant 4/28, CSK's Matheesha Pathirana won the 'Player of the Match' award against the Mumbai Indians (MI) where they won by 20 runs. Pathirana's bowling was exceptional as he was successful enough to deceive the MI batters. Moreover, at the post-match presentation, Pathirana opened up about his bowling and the backing he got from the entire team.

"I was told to keep it calm and do my thing, that gave me the confidence today. I don't think too much about results, just concerned with my execution. If I execute, I will get my rewards. Sometimes I have to change my plans depending on the batters. I was struggling with a bit of a niggle two weeks ago, but the support staff all backed me and that's been the main reason for my form," said Pathirana at the post-match presentation.
