'Bumrah did it again' - Fans react as Mumbai Indians beat Punjab Kings by 10 runs in IPL 2024

Punjab Kings played Mumbai Indians in match no.33 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Mullanpur Stadium. The Kings were missing their regular captain Shikhar Dhawan, as he has been out injured, Sam Curran won the toss and elected to ball first. The home side made two changes with Jonny Bairstow and Atharva Taide making way for Rilee Russouw and Mumbai came with the same squad they played in the last game. Both teams have struggled with form and wanted a win on the night.

The Indians got off to a good start with opener Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan, but the latter went back to the pavilion after scoring just 8 runs with Kagiso Rabada giving his side the breakthrough. After the first wicket Suryakumar Yadav who has been incosistent since his arrival stitched a partnership with Rohit of 81 runs before the later was back in the pavilion after scoring 36 runs. 

SKY continued to smash the Punjab bowlers all around the park and Tilak Varma also gave equal contribution to the side. They stitched a quick partnership of 47 runs before Surya was after scoring 78 off 53 deliveries smashing seven fours and three sixes. Tilak on the other hand scored a quick fire 34 off 18 balls and Tim David's small cameo 14 off 7 balls helped them post agood total of 192 runs. 

Punjab falls short by 10 runs 

In reply, there was a surprise for the fans as Sam Curran came to open the innings alongside Prabhsimran Singh, but nothing worked for the top order batters as the Kings were 14/4 at one stage with all their star batters back in the dugout. Jitesh Sharma also could not contribute and went back for just 9 runs. Yet again Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma stepped up for the side. 

Both batters were looking good untill Jasprit Bumrah came in as he picked the wicket of the Shashank who was firing at a strike rate of 164 and scored 41 off 25 deliveries. Ashutosh tried his best to get his team par the score but he failed as he was dismissed by Gerald Coetzee at the score of 61 off 28 balls as they fell 10 runs short of the vistory.
