Former Sunrisers Hyderabad star signs three game deal with Northamptonshire

Former India and Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer set to fly to England to play for Northamptonshire in a short deal to help the team push for promotion to the first division

Just before the Sunrisers Hyderabad could take the field to play Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League 2024 season, there was a huge news that came along the way. One former SRH bowler is set to play for Northamptonshire for three games in the ongoing County Championship season. 

The bowler in question is none other than Siddharth Kaul who played five seasons for the SRH team and was part of the team that won the title in 2016. The 33-year-old also has played a handful of games for India in 2018. 

Siddharth Kaul wasn’t picked for the IPL 2024 season after he was let go by Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The 34-year-old is expected to join his new team soon and is eagerly looking forward to his maiden county sojourn. 

Siddharth Kaul shares his happiness on joining Northamptonshire 

On Wednesday the news was confirmed that out of favor India bowler Siddharth Kaul was set to play for Northamptonshire. The 33-year-old while reacted and said “I am very happy to be here to represent Northamptonshire and very excited to help the team win games and push for promotion. I am confident I will bring my positive mindset and experience to help my teammates win in any situation in the match”

John Sadler who is the coach of the team also welcome the latest addition to the team and said “Sid has a lot of experience with the ball, he’s played a lot of first-class cricket and is keen to make a big impact when he joins the squad. He’s finished his domestic season over in India where he has picked some good form so hopefully he continues that on with us”

Siddharth Kaul has played 83 matches so far and picked 284 wickets with 8 fifers and been one of the best domestic bowlers in India. The right-arm pacer has also played 3 ODI matches and 2 T20 games with his last appearance for India coming in 2019 against Australia in Bengaluru. 

The 33-year-old has also played 55 matches in the IPL and picked 58 wickets. His last game came during the IPL 2022 season for RCB and gave away 43 runs from 4 overs. That was his last ever game in the IPL before he wasn’t considered for selection again.
