Gujarat Titans (GT) had to face a heartbreaking loss on Wednesday to the Delhi Capitals (DC) by 4 runs in the 40th Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 clash. Despite the valiant efforts from the batters, the target of 225 to win was just inches away but the Titans couldn’t cross the finish line.

Wriddhiman Saha began well as he was seen going after the Delhi bowlers with gusto. This was followed by half-centuries from Sai Sudharsan (65) and David Miller (55) brought the team close.

Here are the top 5 worst performances from the match:

5. Shubman Gill – six runs from five balls

With his team needing a win the GT skipper endured a tough day on the field. First, he saw his bowlers concede 224 runs from their 20 overs. This was followed by Shubman Gill falling for just 6 runs from 5 balls when he tried to clear the field off Anrich Nortje. Axar Patel timed his jump well and took an easy catch to get rid of the Titans skipper.

4. Prithvi Shaw – 11 runs from 7 balls

Delhi Capitals opener Prithvi Shaw hasn’t been having a great run with the bat in the last few games of IPL 2024. After being dismissed by a brutal short ball off Sandeep Warrier in the last game, the same bowler dismissed him on Wednesday. Yet another short ball saw Shaw try to pull the ball only for Noor Ahmad to take a stunning catch.

3. Rashid Khan – 0/35 from 4 overs

Not often does one say that Rashid Khan has put in one of the worst performances in the T20 format. The Afghan spinner bowled four overs and gave away 35 runs without picking a wicket to endure a forgettable day on the field.

2. Anrich Nortje – 1/48 from 3 overs

South African pacer Anrich Nortje was breathing fire with the ball and clocking speeds above 150 KPH. Gujarat Titans batters though were not fazed with such speeds as they took full toll of some ordinary bowling to hit him to all parts of the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

1. Mohit Sharma – 0/73 from four overs

Mohit Sharma who had a great start to the season has seen his form go down south. The 35-year-old conceded 73 runs from overs to record the worst-ever bowling figure in the history of the IPL. The last over bowled by Mohit Sharma went for 31 runs to make it one of the most expensive overs of IPL 2024.
