Shreyas Iyer and Gautam Gambhir were rooted to the spot in utter shock as new records were created. Punjab Kings (PBKS) pulled off the biggest chase in the history of T20 cricket to stun Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and win the 42nd Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match by 8 wickets.

Punjab Kings who were asked to chase 262 found heroes in the form of young Prabhsimran Singh who scored 54 runs. Shashank Singh continued to astonish the fans and his team with an unbeaten 68. The best batter for PBKS was none other than Jonny Bairstow who was not out on 108 runs.

Here are the top 5 worst performances from the match:

5. Harshit Rana -0/61 from 4 overs

187

After a bright start to his IPL 2024 season, Harshit Rana was cut down to size by the PBKS batters on Friday. The young pacer from Delhi was hit for 61 runs as each of the Punjab batters went after him, Shashank Singh in particular hitting him for some really big sixes.

4. Kagiso Rabada – 0/52 from 3 overs

189

On a day when the ball was disappearing to all parts of the ground, Kagiso Rabada like other bowlers wasn’t spared. The South African star was smashed to each and every part of the ground by Sunil Narine and Phil Salt to endure a horrible day in the park.

3. Varun Chakravarthy – 0/46 from 3 overs

189

Jonny Bairstow and Shashank Singh showed no mercy with the bat as they heaped more misery on Varun Chakravarthy. The 32-year-old lost his rhythm and didn’t recover it as 46 runs were leaked from his 3 overs.

2. Dushmantha Chameera – 0/48 from 3 overs

It was an awful debut for Sri Lankan quick Dushmantha Chameera who had come to replace Mitchell Starc. The right-arm fast bowler didn’t get his lines right at all as he was bit to all corners of the ground by young Prabhsimran Singh on his way to a quick-fire fifty.

1. Sam Curran -1/60 from four overs

191

The Punjab Kings skipper was spared his blushes thanks to the maniacal run-chase by his team. The 25-year-old left-arm pacer took the wicket of Phil Salt with a brilliant Yorker on an otherwise ordinary day with the ball. At the end of the game, Sam Curran was beaming in delight thanks to the timely win for PBKS to keep their hopes alive.
