Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) got back to winning ways as they beat the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to win their fourth game of the season. KL Rahul and Quinton De Kock scored half-centuries apiece to help their side beat the defending Indian Premier League (IPL) winners.
Chennai Super Kings lacked any bite with the ball as the two LSG batters gave their team a good start. The win also meant that LSG got back to winning ways at home after their huge loss to Kolkata Knight Riders last weekend.
Here are the top 5 standout performances from the match:
5. MS Dhoni – 28 not out from 9 Balls
IPL 2024 has been witnessing vintage MS Dhoni turn back the clock with his big-hitting skills. The former CSK skipper scored 28 runs from just 9 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes to help CSK go past the 175 mark. The big-hitting also meant that the capacity crowd that came to watch the Indian legend bat weren’t left disappointed.
4. Krunal Pandya – 2/16 from three overs
On a pitch which was slightly on the slower side, Krunal Pandya bowled his heart out. The 33-year-old spinner first dismissed Ajinkya Rahane bowled for 36 just when the CSK opener was looking dangerous. Pandya’s second wicket came when he had Sameer Rizvi out stumped by KL Rahul for 1.
3. Ravindra Jadeja – 57 not out from 40 balls
Asked to bat at the number four spot, Ravindra Jadeja didn’t disappoint his team. The 35-year-old scored his 3rd IPL half-century with the help of five fours and a six. The knock was crucial as Chennai Super Kings had lost early wickets to be reduced to 87/4 at one stage.
2. Quinton De Kock – 54 runs from 43 balls
South African star Quinton De Kock made batting look easy as he played the foil to KL Rahul. The left-handed batter was content in picking the singles and twos before he too decided to open his arms against a tired-looking CSK bowling unit. It was a crucial knock considering the way the wicket was behaving in the first innings of the game.
1. KL Rahul – 82 runs from 53 balls
Lucknow Super Giants were inundated by their skipper KL Rahul who took the bull by its horns. The right-handed batter mixed caution with aggression as he played some orthodox shots along with some flamboyant shots. The LSG skipper was also busy behind the stump taking two catches and affecting the stumping of Sameer Rizvi.
