Mumbai Indians (MI) showed their prowess with the bat and ball with a huge win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Wednesday. This was the third win of the season for the former IPL winners at a very crucial stage in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season.

Punjab Kings on the other hand were outplayed with the bat and ball by a very clinical Mumbai Indians side. None of the PBKS top-order batters could face the wrath of the fire-breathing Jasprit Bumrah and Gerald Coetzee.

Hardik Pandya in particular will be happy as this win helped remove the pressure he was under after the loss to Chennai Super Kings. The five-time winners who are known to be slow starters will want to win more games in a bid to make it to the top four in the table.

Here are the top 5 standout performers from the match:

5. Harshal Patel -3/31 from four overs

Out of favour Indian seamer Harshal Patel was the best bowler for Punjab Kings on Wednesday. The 33-year-old first got the wicket of MI skipper Hardik Pandya for 10. Tim David then holed out Sam Curran for 14 before Romario Shepherd was caught by Shashank Singh for 1.

4. Ashutosh Sharma – 61 runs off 28 balls

Punjab Kings’ big hitter Ashutosh Sharma was showing his big-hitting skills keeping his team in the hunt. The right-handed batter kept his team in the game with some huge hits against the MI bowlers including a swept six against Jasprit Bumrah.

3. Shashank Singh – 41 runs from 25 balls

With his side under huge pressure, it was Shashank Singh yet again who came to the rescue. The 32-year-old kept the scoreboard ticking with some huge blows to put the pressure back on the Mumbai Indians bowlers. Jasprit Bumrah ended his stay in the middle with a slower ball as the catch was taken by Tilak Varma.

2. Jasprit Bumrah – 3/21 from four overs

The Indian pacer got into action right away with the wicket of Rilee Rossouw and Sam Curran. Just when his team was under trouble, Bumrah got the key wicket of Shashank Singh to bring his team back into the game.

1. Suryakumar Yadav – 78 runs from 53 balls

After his duck in the last game versus Chennai Super Kings, Suryakumar Yadav decided to cut loose. The best T20 batter in the world scored yet another half-century to help his side post a huge total on the board.
