Known as 'The Man, The Myth, The Legend', Mahendra Singh Dhoni, former captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is also the only man in the Indian Premier League (IPL) to play 250 matches. Undoubtedly, the best finisher in the world, MSD is famous for changing the course of the match from behind the wickets. The 42-year-old has a lot of cricket left in him which is quite visible as he comes out to play.
His method of playing and handling the game is beyond admiration and the youngsters are always up for learning from him. Moreover, in this season of the IPL, Dhoni has been batting down and is letting the orders take charge. However, in the two or three matches when he came out to bat, he smashed the bowlers like always. Hence, debate about his coming up the batting order is trending.
Keeping that in mind, let's discuss the three reasons for Dhoni to bat up the order against LSG today:
1. MS Dhoni's impressive batting performance so far in IPL 2024
In the match against Delhi Capitals (DC), MS Dhoni came at No. 6 when the match almost went away from CSK. However, he scored a brilliant 37 runs off 16 balls where he smashed the bowlers left, right and centre. His innings included four boundaries and three sixes. This was an inning which instilled confidence in the fans for Dhoni and hence, they are hoping to see him bat up the order in the later half of the season.
2. MS Dhoni can convert his cameos into good numbers
Known for his fighting spirit, MS Dhoni is pretty good at building an inning and converting cameos into good numbers. Hence, if he comes to bat at No.3 or 4, it will be beneficial for the team as well since he's an expert in keeping wickets from the other end. Moreover, his cameo of 20 runs off 4 balls against the Mumbai Indians (MI) included three huge sixes which entertained the crowd and helped CSK win the match by 20 runs.
3. Possibly Dhoni's last dance, fans will get to see him in action more
As speculated, this might be MS Dhoni's last IPL season. The fans want to see their star player bat more and hence, want him to come up the batting order which will give him a chance to spend more time on the field. With the gloves, Dhoni is just perfect and will definitely be missed by the entire nation once he decides to retire from IPL. Thus, it's high time for him to promote himself up in order to give the fans one last chance to watch him bat.
