'It would be injustice that I'll be doing to Gujarat Titans...' - Skipper Shubman Gill opines on his chances in T20 World Cup 2024 squad

Shubman Gill is the captain of the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. He has done great work as a captain and with the bat. While chasing a score of 225, GT lost the game by four runs against the Delhi Capitals. However, Gill only scored six runs in five balls. While talking to the PTI, Gill opined about how he is focusing on the IPL and is not worried about scoring to get selected in the T20 World Cup 2024. 

"If I think about the T20 World Cup and play in that manner, then it would be injustice that I'll be doing to Gujarat Titans and myself. I've scored almost 900 runs last season, if I had to be picked then I'll be picked," said Gill.

As a young player, Gill's thought process makes him great as he is concerned about his team and not his own selection. Moreover, selectors should also look into the players' previous records before selecting them for the World Cup squad, as it will be unfair to others.

After losing the match against the Delhi Capitals by four runs, skipper Shubman Gill praised his boys for playing well and showing intent throughout the game. The team did well as they were chasing 225 runs and losing such a match with a small margin is commendable. The GT look good and charged and will hope to see some more brilliant matches under Shubman's captaincy.

"Great fight till the end and we never thought we were out of the game at any point. When you're chasing 224, there's no point in talking about plans, just go out and score runs. I think impact player has a bit of a role (in making the matches high scoring), even if you lose extra wickets, extra cushion is there for the batters to keep going and it gives the license for the batters to keep going till the end," said Shubman Gill at the post-match presentation.
