List of Teams with the Fastest Centuries in IPL History

This season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 has been mindblowing in terms of records. With each day, new records are being made and broken. The tournament has become a batter's paradise and a bowler's worst nightmare this time. With their efficient top order, Sunrisers Hyderabad has officially become the most dangerous team of the IPL 2024 after scoring 277 and 287 in two games.

These aren't the only records they made this season. In today's game against the Delhi Capitals, they scored the highest runs in the powerplays, 125-0. With Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head opening the innings, the team is full of beasts looking to strike every ball possible. Apart from this, several other teams have scored the fastest century in the IPL. 

Let's look at the five teams who have scored the fastest hundred in the IPL:

5. 7 overs - SRH vs MI, Hyderabad, 2024

2024 has clearly been the year of batters, as SRH scored a century in the first seven overs of the game against the Mumbai Indians. They went on to score the highest IPL total ever, 277. However, after a few games, they broke their own record by scoring 287 runs against RCB. The SRH batters are in solid form and looking to hit every ball they get without worrying about the results.

4. 6.5 overs - CSK vs MI, Mumbai, 2015

Dwayne Smith and Brendon McCullum hammered the Mumbai Indians' bowling lineup in 2015 as they went on to score 100 runs in 6.5 overs. The batters did some solid grinding of the bowlers and scored 62 and 46 runs, respectively. After McCullum's wicket, Suresh Raina joined the party and scored an unbeaten 43 runs off 29 balls. With these performances, CSK successfully clinched victory over the MI. 

3. 6 overs - KKR vs RCB, Bengaluru, 2017

Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine created havoc in the match against RCB in 2017 as they went on to score 105 runs in the powerplay. While Lynn scored 50 runs off 22 balls, Narine scored 54 runs off 17. They batted extremely well and provided full entertainment to the audience. They chased down the target of 159 runs with five overs to spare. 

2. 6 overs - CSK vs PBKS, Mumbai, 2014

A decade ago, CSK reached 100 runs in the powerplays thanks to Suresh Raina's 87 runs off 25 balls. His batting was terrific. He came and started hitting the ball quickly. That innings was enough to prove why he's called 'Mr. IPL'. The way he hits the bowlers effortlessly speaks volumes about his temperament as a batter. Although CSK lost the match against PBKS, that game remained alive in the history of IPL. 

1. 5 overs - SRH vs DC, Delhi, 2024

Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma thrashed the Delhi Capitals (DC) bowlers left, right, and centre as they went on to score 125 runs in the powerplay. This is the highest total made by any team in the history of the IPL. The batting has been tremendously great, leaving the bowlers incredibly clueless. Thanks to the pitch and the short boundaries, the SRH batters scored the highest.
