Former Indian tennis legend Mahesh Bhupathi has slammed the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) management after the loss to Hyderabad on Monday. Faf Du Plessis and his side lost by 25 runs after conceding a score of 287 which is the highest ever score in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL)

This loss left the Bengaluru team bottom of the table with just one win from 7 games. Qualification for the next phase now looks impossible with the team needing to win all their games.

It was a disappointing bowling performance from the RCB side as Travis Head scored a wonderful ton. Heinrich Klassen then flexed his muscles to ensure more misery for the home team as he took the bowlers to the cleaners with his brutal hitting.

Mahesh Bhupathi makes his feelings clear on Twitter

Taking to Twitter after the game, former Indian Tennis Legend, Mahesh Bhupathi wrote “For the sake of the sport, the IPL, the fans and even the players I think BCCI needs to enforce the sale of RCB to a new owner who will care to build a sports franchise the way most of the other teams have done so #Tragic”

Dinesh Karthik and skipper Faf Du Plessis were the only batters who put up a fight. Virat Kohli looked good early on before he was bowled while going for a slog sweep by Mayank Markande.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are yet to win the Men’s IPL title as their women’s team brought home the WPL title just a few weeks ago. Over the years some of the biggest cricketing names have come out and played for RCB. The likes of Chris Gayle, AB De Villiers, Dilshan, and Quinton De Kock have been part of the team.

In fact Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen too were part of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru once upon a time. Despite possessing all the big names, the team hasn’t been able to win the IPL and have reached the finals thrice. During the IPL 2016 final played in front of their home fans, David Warner’s SRH team had piped RCB to the post to win the title.

The next game for Bengaluru is against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens stadium. Should they lose that game as well, it will be all over for RCB this year and they will have to wait another year to pursue their title dreams.
