On Wednesday, April 10, 2024, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Gujarat Titans (GT) engaged in the Indian Premier League's (IPL) 24th match at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. After winning the toss, GT captain Shubman Gill invited RR to score runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal, an out-of-form batsman, gave it his all as he hit a few boundaries but was removed from the pitch after 24 runs. Jos Buttler was dismissed after just eight runs, despite smashing a century in RR's previous game.

However, young batter Riyan Parag and skipper Sanju Samson had other ideas. They helped RR build a solid first-innings total by stitching together a 130-run stand for the third wicket. With the GT bowlers appearing completely bewildered, both batsmen hammered an incredible half-century. With a superb innings of 76 runs, Parag went to the pavilion, while Samson finished unbeaten at 68. A total of 196 runs were scored by RR as a result of several misfields and catch drops by GT, who had below-average fielding skills.

Magnificent chase by Gujarat Titans

GT's opening pair, Gill and Sai Sudharsan, got off to a strong start as they chased the mark, putting up a stand of 64 runs for the first wicket. The rising GT left-hander, however, was unable to hold out long at the crease with the captain following Sudharsan's dismissal, and the 2022 IPL winner began to lose wickets at regular intervals.

Gill played with great skill and made an effort to protect the one end. But Yuzvendra Chahal, the seasoned spinner for RR, got rid of him at a critical point in the innings. After Gill left the game after making 72 runs, it appeared like RR would lose by three wickets, but Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan grabbed the victory out of RR's grasp in the last ball of the match and the star Afghanistan all-rounder was named Player of the match for his all-round performance.
