It is a piece of good news for all the Indian domestic players as they are about to receive a hike in their salary. As per the reports by the Media, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is looking at the possibility of increasing the remunerations of all domestic players which is like validating their hard work. Moreover, the selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar has the responsibility of coming up with a proposal for the same.

Since the news is not official now, we can assume that this initiative is for the hard-working players who are not a part of the IPL 2024. They are mostly side-lined by the selectors and do not receive encouragement from anywhere just because they aren't a part of the T20 league which seems to be quite unfair. Hence, BCCI finally acknowledges the talented young players out there and will give them a chance to make their families proud.

Currently, the plan pays INR 60,000 a day to a player who has played more than 40 Ranji games and INR 50,000 to those who have played between 21 and 40 games. Moreover, INR 40,000 is for those who have featured in 20 games, with the reserves earning INR 30,000, INR 25,000 and INR 20,000 in the respective categories. Hence, a senior cricketer earns up to INR 25 lakh if his side reaches the final with others in the side making between INR 17 lakh and INR 22 lakh.

'If the Ranji Trophy fees can be doubled or tripled...' - Former India batter Sunil Gavaskar proposed the hike in salary for domestic players

After the increase in Test match salaries was announced by the BCCI secretary Jay Shah, former India star batter Sunil Gavaskar suggested for a salary hike for the Indian domestic players who play all year long for their states and receive less money. The players work throughout the entire year and receive less money as compared to the efforts put in by them. Hence, the Board has come up with a solution for the same.

"If the Ranji Trophy fees can be doubled or tripled, certainly there will be a lot more people playing the Ranji Trophy, and a lot less pullouts from the Ranji Trophy, because if the fees of playing a Ranji Trophy match are a good fee, there will be fewer people pulling out for various reasons," said Gavaskar.
