The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 is just months away to begin. The tournament is set to take place in the United States and the West Indies in June. The teams are gearing up for the mega event to make an impact in the tournament and win the marquee event. Australia have been one of the most dominant sides in the ICC tournaments as the Kangaroos have won the 50-over tournament 6 times and the T20 format once.

The Aussies will be looking to keep their momentum going in the whiteball format of the game. After winning the 2023 World Cup in India, they would also like to capture the shortest format of the game. The depth is what makes them the most formidable side of the others.

In the past few years, Pat Cummins has been one of the most successful skippers for Australia, leading them to ODI World Cup and ICC World Test Championship titles. In the article, let us take a look at the best probable XI for Australia in the World Cup 2024.

Probable XI of Australia

1. Top Order (David Warner, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh)

David Warner has been one of the finest openers. Warner despite retiring from Test and ODIs might be playing his last T20 World Cup. The left-handed batter played a crucial role in the 2021 World Cup win for the side as was the Player of the Tournament. Travis Head is another powerhouse in the opening department and is also the best batter for the Aussies across formats in recent times. He was a crucial part of the Aussies World Cup win in India. These two make a lethal opening combination.

Mitchell Marsh will be captaining the side in the tournament. He will play at No.3 for the and can firepower and anchor the innings and might play a pivotal role in the side given his bowling is also handy.

2. Middle Order (Glenn Maxwell, Matthew Short, Tim David)

Glenn Maxwell is arguably the best T20 batter of all time. Maxwell is known for his ruthless power hitting in the white ball format of the game. He has been the best batter for Australia over the years in the shortest format of the game. The 35-year-old will look to firepower the middle order. Mathew Short is a good choice in the middle order with his ability to play cameos in the end and bowl some good overs. Tim David will be another choice in the middle order with his prowess to hit the ball and has a strike rate of over 150.

3. Wicketkeeper (Josh Inglis)

Josh Inglis will be the obvious choice in the wicket-keeping option for the side. Inglis can bat anywhere in the team with his flexibility of batting makes him dangerous and a good player of spin as well.

4. Bowlers (Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazelwood)

Pat Cummins had a sensational 2023, winning every possible trophy the year with the national side as a captain. Cummins’s role will be a vital one in the shortest format. With him, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazelwood will be partnered once again as the pace trio of the Kangaroos looks lethal in the tournament. Adam Zampa will be the lone mainstream spinner for the side and he was brilliant in the 2021 edition and might play a crucial role in the slow pitch of West Indies.
